Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: MATTHEW 23:23-26

They chose their duties of religion. They were very faithful in small matters but very negligent in serious matters. They were very exact in paying the tithes and they paid the tithes of even mint and cummin. (They paid the tithes of all their possession). But the law demanded judgment, mercy and faith. (Hos 6:6; Mic 6:8 Isa 1:11)

They are blind because the clean the outside of the vessel and keep the inside of it dirty. External practices they are very exact and they are religious in every respect of their external practices. But their heart and mind are wicked in every respect. Externally they seemed to be godly but right inside they were sober nor righteous.

கடமைகளை தேர்ந்து தெளிவுசெய்து பணிபுரிந்தார்கள். சிறிய> எளிதான கடமைகளை கடைபிடித்தார்கள். ஆனால் பெரியவற்றை மறந்தார்கள் (புதினா> சோம்பு> சீரகம் ஆகியவற்றில் பத்தில் ஒரு பங்கைப் படைக்கிறீர்கள்). ஆனால் திருச்சட்டத்தின் முக்கிய போதனைகளாகிய நீதி> இரக்கம்> நம்பிக்கை ஆகியவற்றைக் கடைப்பிடிக்காமல் விட்டுவிடுகிறீர்கள். (ஒசே 6:6@ மீக்கா 6:8@ எசா 1:11)

GOSPEL READING: MATTHEW 23:13-22

The scribes and Pharisees were hypocrites; that is it in which all the rest of their bad characters are summed up. A hypocrite is a stage-player in religion (that is the primary signification of the word); he acts the part of one that he neither is nor may be, or perhaps the he neither is nor would be.

They are hypocrites because while they live, their religion is vain; when they die, their ruin is great. They are blind guides because they fall into the pit and they make those who follow them also fall in the pit. They guide the people to the wrong ends. They do not lead the people to the temple but to the gold; they do not guide the people to the altar but to the gifts.

வெளிவேடக்காரர் என்று இயேசு கூறும்போது அவர்களின் உள்ள தீய குணங்களையும் ஒட்டுமொத்தமாக கூறுகிறார். அவர்கள் மதத்தில் நடிக்கிறார்கள். அவர்கள் வழிகாட்டும் குருடர்கள். தவறான முடிவுகளுக்கு மக்களை இட்டுச்செல்கிறார்கள்: திருக்கோவிலுக்கு அல்ல மாறாக கோவிலில் உள்ள பொன் மீது@ பலிபீடத்திற்கு அல்ல மாறாக அதில் படைக்கப்பட்ட காணிக்கையின்மீது…
