Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: JOHN 17:20-26

This is a beautiful statement made by Jesus in his prayer. He prayed for his disciples and prayed for all those who believed in him and will believe in him. In that sense he has prayed for all of us two thousand years ago (I pray not only for them, but also for those who will believe in me through their word).

In his prayer he tells the father that his disciples and his followers and those who believe in him are a gift from the father. He takes every one of us as a gift. He wants the gift to be with him always (I wish that where I am they also may be with me). He also prayed that his followers should be witnesses to the glory that god has reserved for him.

சீடர்களையும்> அவர்மேல் நம்பிக்கை கொள்பவர்களையும் இயேசு கொடையாக கருதுகிறார். அவர்கள் என்றும் அவரோடு இருக்கவேண்டும்> அவருடைய மகிமையில் அவரை காணவேண்டும் என விரும்புகிறார். இதுவே அவரது ஜெபம்.

GOSPEL READING: JOHN 17:11-19

This is the final prayer of Jesus with his disciples and for his disciples. Jesus prayed and his disciples listened to his prayer or they prayed with them. The prayer reveals the mind of Jesus with regard to God, the disciples and the world. The world is something negative or there are negative things in the world from which the disciples should be preserved.

God should protect the disciples from this world. He should keep them united (the world divides them). The only possession that the disciples are given is the word of God. Word of God is truth. The disciples have to be consecrated in this word which is truth. All these are done in the name of God and in the name of Jesus.

இயேசுவின் ஜெபம். இயேசுவின் மனநிலை தெளிவாக வெளிப்படுத்தப்படுகிறது. உலகம் தீயது அது சீடர்களை பிரிக்கிறது. சீடர்கள் பாதுகாக்கப்படவேண்டும் ஒற்றுமைப்படுத்தப்படவேண்டும் அர்ச்சிக்கப்படவேண்டும். இறைவார்த்தைதான் உண்மை.
