*1st week in Lent, Thursday – 14th March 2019 — Gospel: Mt 7,7-12*
*Be assured graciously and unexpectedly *
The three imperatives “ask,” “seek,” and “knock,” are Jewish expressions for prayer. These positive exhortations reflect how the disciples relate themselves to God on a daily basis with childlike confidence and with the willingness to explore the extent of his generosity. These sayings may originally indicate the “beggars’ wisdom,” encouraging persistence in the form of: if you keep on asking, seeking, and knocking on doors, finally some help will come from someone. However, they actually depict dependency, encouragement and persuasion for getting one’s needs. In reality these sayings explicitly limit to the material needs or wants of the petitioner requested in constant and fervent prayer. This passage, after the illustrations of human parenthood, ends with the goodness of the heavenly Father who gives more good things to his children (7,11). At the same, this gives a knowledge of assurance that our heavenly Father gives graciously beyond our expectations.
கேட்பது, தேடுவது, தட்டுவது ஆகிய பண்புகள் யூதர்களுடைய செபத்தின் இன்றியமையாத கூறுகளாகும். இந்நேர்மறை அறிவுரைகள் எவ்வாறு சீடர்கள் ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் இறைவனிடம் குழந்தைத்தனமான நம்பிக்கையோடு, அவரின் தாராள மனப்பான்மையை ஆராயும் விருப்பத்துடன் நடந்து கொள்கிறார்கள் என்பதைப் பிரதிபலிக்கின்றன. இக்கூற்றுகள் தொடக்கத்தில் ஊக்கமளிக்கும் உறுதியை வெளிப்படுத்துகின்றன. அதாவது கேட்டுக் கொண்டே இருந்தால், தேடிக்கொண்டே இருந்தால், கதவைத் தட்டிக் கொண்டே இருந்தால், இறுதியில் எதாவது ஒரு விதத்தில் உதவி யார் வழியேனும் வந்திடும் என்ற “ பிச்சைக்காரர்களின் ஞானத்தை” வெளிப்படுத்துகின்றது. எனினும், அவர்கள் உண்மையில் சார்புநிலையையும், ஊக்குவித்தலையும், மற்றும் தேவைகளைப் பெறும் தூண்டுதலையும் சித்தரிக்கின்றார்கள். இக்கூற்றுகள் கேட்பவரின் இடையறாத மற்றும் உற்சாகமான செபத்தில் அவரின் வெளிப்படையான பொருளாதார தேவைகள் அல்லது விருப்பங்களை வரையறுக்கின்றன. இவ்வுலக பெற்றோரின் செயல்களை வர்ணித்தப்பின், இறுதியில், இறைத்தந்தை அவருடைய பிள்ளைகளுக்கு இன்னும் அதிகமானவற்றைக் கொடுப்பார் என்ற நற்குணங்களோடு இப்பகுதி முடிவுபெறுகிறது. அதே வேளையில், நம் விண்ணகத் தந்தை நம் எதிர்பார்ப்புகளுக்கு அப்பால் கருணை காட்டுகின்றார் என்ற உத்தரவாத அறிதலையும் இது அளிக்கின்றது.
