The parable of the tenants is an allegory of God’s saving history with his people. The images are rooted in the prophecy of Isaiah, in which Israel is described as Gods’ vineyard (Isa 5,1-2). Going beyond the usual connotation, the parable is not against the people, but the tenants, their leaders, who are supposed to care for the vineyard. Towards the end, Jesus draws his listeners, the religious leaders, into the story by asking them to finish the parable. The religious leaders denounce themselves with their answer that the owner will give the vineyard to new tenants. In moving from the parable to the Psalm 118, 22-23, Jesus climaxes this parable as he switches from agricultural to architectural imagery. Here the parable speaks of the final crisis in which God’s love is not frustrated. It clearly portrays the lack of accountability of the leaders and faithfulness of God to His promises. Final action is a clear judgment on those who are responsible for using God’s gifts for their own advantage rather than at the service of the Lord.
கொடிய குத்தகைக்காரர்களின் உவமை கடவுளின் மக்களுடைய மீட்பு வரலாற்றின் உருவகமாகும். இங்கு காணும் வர்ணனைகள், இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களைக் கடவுளின் திராட்சைத் தோட்டமாக விவரிக்கப்படும் ஏசாயா இறைவாக்கினில் வேரூன்றி உள்ளன. உருவகத்தின் அடுத்தக் கட்டமாக, இந்த உவமை இம்மக்களுக்கு எதிராக அல்ல, மாறாக, திராட்சைத் தோட்டத்தைப் பராமரிக்கும் கண்காணிப்பாளர்களை அதாவது தலைவர்களையே சுட்டிக் காட்டுகின்றது. இறுதியில், இவ்வுவமையை செவிமடுப்பவர்களையே அதாவது மதத்தலைவர்களையே இக்கதைக்குள் புகுத்த இவ்வுவமையின் முடிவை அவர்களிடமே வினவுகின்றார். அதற்கு மதத்தலைவர்கள் திராட்சைத் தோட்ட உரிமையாளர் புதிய குடியிருப்பாளர்களுக்கு தம் திராட்சைத் தோட்டத்தைக் கொடுப்பார் என்ற கண்டனத்தை வெளிப்படுத்தினர். இவ்வுவமையை திருப்பாடலின் மேற்கோளோடு நிறைவுபடுத்தும் இயேசு, திருப்புமுனையாக விவசாயத்திலிருந்து கட்டடவியல் உருவக மாற்றத்தினை முன்வைக்கின்றார் என்பதே சிறப்பு. இதில் கடவுளின் அன்பு இறுதிக்கட்ட நெருக்கடியிலும் விரக்தி அடைவதில்லை என்பதை சுட்டிக் காட்டுகின்றார். மேலும், வாக்குறுதியில் நிலைத்திருக்கும் கடவுளின் உண்மைத் தன்மையையும் பொறுப்பற்ற தலைவர்களின் வன்மத்தையும் இவ்வர்ணனை தெளிவுபடுத்துகின்றது. கடவுளிடமிருந்து பெற்ற கொடைகளை அவருடைய பணிக்காக அன்றி, பொறுப்புள்ளவர்களின் சுயநலத்திற்கு பயன்படுத்திக் கொள்வோரின் இறுதித் தீர்ப்பையும் வெட்ட வெளிச்சமாக்குகின்றது.
