20th Week in Ord. Time, Tuesday – 20thAugust 2019 — Gospel: Mt 19,23-30
Apostles as prime example
Against the rich young man, who would not give up his possessions, are set the disciples who have forsaken all, i.e., house, family and land for Christ’s sake. This section has Jesus’ answer for the two questions: Who can be saved (19,25)? What will we get (19,27)? While Peter asks the blunt question that concerns all followers of Christ, Jesus’ initial answer actually concerns only the twelve apostles. Here Matthew sees the twelve as the prime example of what every disciple should be. Their lives will be the standard by which everyone will be judged. Jesus then assures the twelve that on the last day they will have the status of the twelve founding patriarchs of Israel, i.e., the twelve thrones and tribes and indeed will “judge” Israel. By throwing away their goods, the disciples will inherit what the young man sought in vain to possess. Thus all human standards and plans are inverted. Many who are first in this world, e.g., the rich man, the Jewish leaders, the powerful, the ostentatiously pious, will be last or rejected, in the world to come, while the last, i.e., the apostles, the disciples, the poor, will be admitted first into the kingdom.
தனது உடைமைகளை விட்டுக் கொடுக்க விரும்பாத செல்வந்தரான இளைஞனுக்கு எதிராக, இயேசுவின் பொருட்டு வீடு, குடும்பம் மற்றும் நிலம் ஆகிய அனைத்தையும் கைவிட்ட சீடர்களை முன்னிறுத்துகிறார்;. இப்பகுதியில் யார் மீட்பு பெற முடியும்? எங்களுக்கு என்ன கிடைக்கும்? என்ற இரண்டு கேள்விகளின் மையமாக இயேசுவின் பதில் உள்ளது. பேதுருவின் கேள்வி கிறிஸ்துவை பின்பற்றும் எல்லோரையும் உட்படுத்தியதாய் இருக்கின்றது. இயேசுவின் பதில் பன்னிரண்டு அப்போஸ்தலர்களைப் பற்றியதாய் அமைந்துள்ளது. இங்கு மத்தேயு ஒவ்வொரு சீடரும் என்னவாக இருக்க வேண்டும் என்பதற்கு பன்னிரெண்டு பேரை பிரதான உதாரணமாகக் காண்கிறார். அவர்களுடைய வாழ்க்கை எல்லோரையும் தீர்மானிக்கும் அளவுகோலாக இருக்கின்றது. எனவே கடைசி நாளில் இஸ்ரயேலின் பன்னிரெண்டு குலங்களின் தலைவர்களாக அவர்கள் திகழ்வார்கள். அதாவது பன்னிரெண்டு அரியணைகள் மற்றும் குலங்களின் அந்தஸ்தை அவர்கள் பெறுவார்கள். மேலும் இஸ்ரயேலை தீர்ப்பிடுவார்கள் என்றும் இயேசு பன்னிரெண்டு பேருக்கு உறுதியளிக்கிறார். தங்களுடைய பொருட்களை இழப்பதன் மூலம், செல்வந்தரான இளைஞன் பெற ஆசைப்பட்ட நிலைவாழ்வை சீடர்கள் பெறுவார்கள். இவ்வாறு அனைத்து மனித அளவுகோலும் திட்;டங்களும் தலைகீழ் ஆக்கப்படும். செல்வந்தர், யூதத் தலைவர்கள், சக்தி வாய்ந்தவர்கள், மற்றும் மேலோட்ட பக்தியுள்ளவர்கள் என இவ்வுலகில் முதலிடம் வகிக்கும் பலர் இறையாட்சியில் கடைசியாவர். அப்போஸ்தலர்கள், சீடர்கள் மற்றும் ஏழைகள் என்ற இவ்வுலக கடைநிலையாளர்கள் இறையாட்சியில் முதலில் அனுமதிக்கப்படுவார்கள்.
