Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: JOHN 14:6-14

Philip said to him, “Master, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.”

Religious desire of everyone is to see God and to have god experience. Biblical faith itself is based on God experience (Abraham, Moses, and Covenant etc). God experience is available to all and it also attainable. Philip as a representative of this group is asking Jesus to show the Father to him.

The reply of Jesus is that God experience is available in Jesus. In the person of Jesus (in his words, actions and life) God is manifested. God is dwelling in Jesus and god makes himself manifest in Jesus. That is the reason Jesus says that to have seen Jesus is to have seen the Father.

அப்போது பிலிப்பு, அவரிடம், ‘ஆண்டவரே, தந்தையை எங்களுக்குக் காட்டும்@ அதுவே போதும்” என்றார்.

இறைவனை காணுதல் அல்லது இறை அனுபவம் பெறுதல் ஒவ்வொரு மனிதனில் விருப்பமாகும். இதற்காகவே மனிதன் இறை அனுபவம் தேடி அலைகிறான். இயேசு (இறைமகன் என்பதால்) இறைவனை தன்னில் கொண்டிருக்கிறார் எனவே இயேசுவின் சொல்லிலும் செயலிலும் இறைவனைக் காணமுடியும் என்கிறார்.

GOSPEL READING: JOHN 15:9-11

As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love.

Love of the Father for Jesus is seen in his love for the world. Both the loves are intertwined. God so love the world that he sent his son into the world. Love of the Father for Jesus was expressed in his commission of Jesus for the redemption of the world. Jesus accepted the love of the Father that he was ready to go any extent to love the Father in return.

Jesus loved his disciples in the same way would only mean that the disciples should be ready to sacrifice themselves for the redemption of the world. Since the disciples are loved by Jesus (as the Father loved him) they should in turn be ready to be like Jesus to sacrifice themselves for the redemption of the world.

நற்செய்தி வாசகம்: யோவான் 15: 9-11

என் தந்தை என் மீது அன்பு கொண்டுள்ளதுபோல நானும் உங்கள்மீது அன்பு கொண்டுள்ளேன். என் அன்பில் நிலைத்திருங்கள்.

தந்தை இயேசுவின் மீது கொண்டுள்ள அன்பு அளவிடமுடியாதது. அந்த அன்பினால்த்தான் தந்தை இயேசுவை உரிமையோடு உலகிற்கு அனுப்பினார். இயேசுவும் அதே உரிமையோடு சீடர்களோடு உறவுகொண்டுள்ளார். இயேசு சீடர்கள்மீது கொண்டுள்ள அன்பு அதே உரிமையோடுதான். சீடர்கள் தங்களையே உலக மீட்புக்காக அழிக்க தயாராக இருக்கும் நிலைதான் இயேசு அவர்கள் மீது கொண்டுள்ள அன்பு.
