GOSPEL READING: JOHN 3:31-36

Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life

Jesus is the beloved son of the Father (The Father loves the Son v.35). He had sent the prophets earlier and they were all his servants but Jesus is the beloved son of the Father. He is the Lord of all (He has given everything over to him v.35). Love is generous. He is the object of the faith which is made the great condition of eternal happiness (Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life v.36)

It is the character of every true Christian that he believes on the Son of God that is he consents to him and confides in him. The benefit of true Christianity is no less than everlasting life; this is what Christ came to give us; it can be no less than the happiness of an immortal soul in an immortal God. True believers, even now, have everlasting life; not only they shall have it hereafter, but they have it now. They have the Son of God, and in him they have life.

மகனிடம் நம்பிக்கை கொள்வோர் நிலைவாழ்வைப் பெறுவர்.

இயேசு தந்தையின் அன்பார்ந்த மகன் (அவர் பணியாளர் அல்ல); படைப்பனைத்தையும் தந்தை அவர் கையில் ஒப்படைத்துள்ளார். (முழு அதிகாரமும் அவரிடம் கொடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது). ஒவ்வொரு கிறிஸ்தவனும் கிறிஸ்துவின் மேல் நம்பிக்கை வைக்கவேண்டும் அதன் பயனாக நிலைவாழ்வைப் பெறுவான்.

GOSPEL READING: JOHN 3:16-21

God so loved the world that he gave his only Son

This is the gospel. This is the good news that ever came from heaven to earth. This is the revelation of the Gospel mystery: God so loved the world that he gave his only Son. Jesus was the only begotten son implied that he was the only dignity of the Father and he was ever so dear to the Father and he was the delight of the Father.

God loved the world really and richly. ‘But God proves his love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us’ (Rom 5:8). This is the time of love and this is the expression of love of God. God loved such a worthless and wicked world. God’s love for the world is expressed in a sacrifice: sacrifice of his own Son on the cross.

தம் ஒரே மகன் மீது நம்பிக்கை கொள்ளும் எவரும் அழியாமல் நிலைவாழ்வு பெறும் பொருட்டு அந்த மகனையே அளிக்கும் அளவுக்குக் கடவுள் உலகின்மேல் அன்பு கூர்ந்தார்.

இதுதான் நற்செய்தி. வுpண்ணிலிருந்து வந்த முழுமையான நற்செய்தி இதுவே. நற்செய்தியின் மறைபொருளின் வெளிப்பாடு இதுதான்: கடவுள் உலகின்மீது அன்பு கூர்ந்தார். உலகின்மீது அவர் கொண்டிருந்த அன்பின் ஆழம், அகலம், நீளம், உயரம் எல்லாம் வெளிப்படுத்தப்பட்டது: தன் மகனையே அளித்தலில் (அழித்தலில்).
