GOSPEL READING: LUKE 24:1-12

They found the stone rolled away from the tomb; but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.

Jesus died on Friday. They buried him in a hurry lest they break the Sabbath rules. At the end of the Sabbath they came back to the tomb to give him a proper burial. This was the reason they took the spices with them. They themselves were not sure of his resurrection. They came to give him proper burial.

They were shocked to see the stone rolled. They would have thought that someone else had entered before them to give him proper burial. They could not believe their eyes because the body was not there. Was it stolen? No! Revelation from the Angels said that he is raised. Resurrection is only through revelation. It is given from above.

அவசரத்தில் இயேசுவின் உடலை அடக்கம் செய்திருந்தார்கள். அவருக்கு சரியான அடக்கம் கொடுக்க வந்தார்கள். ஆனால் அங்கே ஆண்டவர் இயேசுவின் உடலைக் காணவில்லை. வானதூதர் உயிர்ப்பை அறிவிக்கிறார்கள். உயிர்ப்பு ஒரு இறை வெளிப்பாடு. ஏனெனில் அது ஒரு இறை செயல்.

They crucified him.

Crucifixion of Jesus on the Cross is fundamental to the faith of Christian communities. People may look at it differently but for the believer this is essential and this is the truth he professes. (but we proclaim Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those who are called, Jews and Greeks alike, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God -1Cor 1:23-24). And the knowledge of Jesus crucified is the only requirement (For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ, and him crucified -1Cor 2:2).

What are the essential results of crucifixion? Again Paul beautifully summarizes: obliterating the bond against us, with its legal claims, which was opposed to us, he also removed it from our midst, nailing it to the cross (Col 2:14). The Romans and the Jewish leaders were priding in themselves for having crucified Jesus but Jesus instead was nailing our sins on the cross; and secondly he made peace between the broken communities (“For he is our peace, he who made both one and broke down the dividing wall of enmity, through his flesh”- Eph 2:14).

சிலுவை நம்பிக்கைகொண்டுள்ள மக்களுக்கு மீட்பு. அச்சிலுவை ய+தருக்குத் தடைக்கல்லாகவும் பிற இனத்தாருக்கு மடமையாயும் இருக்கிறது. ஆனால் அழைக்கப்பட்டவர்கள், ய+தரானாலும் கிரேக்கரானாலும், அவர்களுக்குக் கிறிஸ்து (சிலுவையில் அறையப்பட்ட கிறிஸ்து) கடவுளின் வல்லமையும் ஞானமுமாய் இருக்கிறார். (1 கொரி 1:23-24). சிலுவை வழியாக கிறிஸ்து நம்மை பாவத்திலிருந்து மீட்டு ஒன்றினைக்கிறார். நமக்கு எதிரான ஒப்பந்த விதிகள் பல கொண்ட கடன்பத்திரத்தை அவர் அழித்துவிட்டார். அதைச் சிலுவையில் வைத்து ஆணியடித்து அறவே ஒழித்து விட்டார். (கொலோ 2:14) அவரே இரண்டு இனத்தவரையும் பிரித்து நின்ற பகைமை என்னும் சுவரை, தமது உடலில் ஏற்ற துன்பத்தின் வழியாய்த் தகர்த்தெறிந்து, அவர்களை ஒன்றுபடுத்தினார். (எபே 2:14)
