Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: John 1: 35-42

“Behold, the Lamb of God.”

In the Gospel of John, Jesus does not call the disciples as he does in the synoptic Gospel. In the first three Gospels He goes around near the sea of Galilee and there he finds Peter, Andrew, James, and John and he calls them and they leave their nets and boats and follow Jesus.

In the Gospel of John it is John the Baptist who bears witness to the Jesus. Jesus is walking around and John points out Jesus as the Lamb of God and to his own disciples and the disciples of John become the disciple of Jesus. And these disciples inquire about Jesus and his whereabouts; Jesus gives them an option to visit his location. The disciples decide to see and they decide to remain with him as his disciples. The disciples find other disciples for Jesus (He first found his own brother Simon and told him, “We have found the Messiah” ).

முதல் மூன்று நற்செய்திகளி;லும் இயேசு கடலோரமாக நடந்து சென்று சீடர்களை அழைக்கிறார். யோவான் நற்செய்தியிலோ இயேசு அவர்களை அழைப்பதில்லை; மாறாக திருமுழுக்கு யோவான் அவரை சுட்டிக்காட்ட அவர்களே முடிவெடுத்து அவரை பின்தொடர்கிறார்கள்; அவரோடு தங்கவும் முடிவெடுக்கிறார்கள்.

GOSPEL READING: John 1:29-34

Now I have seen and testified that he is the Son of God.

John the Baptist had received in revelation about his own ministry and that of Jesus (I did not know him, but the reason why I came baptizing with water was that he might be made known to Israel — I did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me). We constantly receive revelations about ourselves and others. But we accept only what we ourselves long for.

John the Baptist was true to the revelation received. And he was faithful to the revelation received and that was the reason that he was the perfect witness. He was able to point out to Jesus and proclaim to the world the real Jesus. We receive revelation to be witnesses and witnesses only.

வெளிப்பாடு வழியாக நமக்கு கொடுக்கப்படுபவை யாவும் உண்மையானவை. வெளிப்பாட்டுக்கு சான்றுபகர்வதே உண்மையான வாழ்வு. திருமுழுக்கு யோவானின் சாட்சிய வாழ்வு அவருக்கு கொடுக்கப்பட்ட வெளிப்பாட்டுக்கு நேர்மையானதாக இருந்தது.
