Breaking the Word

GOSPEL  READING: JOHN 3: 16-21

 God’s love for the people and the world is seen in his sacrifice of his only Son. Abraham loved God so much that he was ready to sacrifice his son Isaac. His love for God (which is expressed in his belief in God) was revealed in his readiness to sacrifice. Here God’s love for the people and the world is seen in God’s sacrifice of his son.

 God sent his son not to condemn or judge or to punish the people. If it was so then it would not be love. He sent his son with the only aim of saving them. God has made a covenant of relationship with the people (one God one people). People have broken this covenant and went after other gods. God sent His son to win back the people to himself and this is done by sacrificing his son. People have to believe in Jesus.

நற்செய்தி வாசகம்: யோவான் 3: 16-21

 கடவுளின் அன்பு அவருடைய ஒரே மகனையே மக்களுக்காக பலியாக அளிப்பதில் இருக்கிறது. ஆபிரகாம் தன் மகனை பலியிட துணிந்தது அவர் இறைவன் மேல் கொண்டிருந்த அளவிடமுடியாத அன்பே (நம்பிக்கை). இறைவன் தன் மகனை அனுப்பியது தீர்ப்பிட அல்ல, தண்டிக்க அல்ல. மாறாக மக்களை மீட்கவே. மக்கள் அவரில் நம்பிக்கை கொள்ளவேண்டும்.

GOSPEL  READING: JOHN 3:7-15

Earthly things are only signs and symbols. They communicate, at times, the heavenly realities (like the wind that blows etc). People who do not understand or accept the earthly realities and the messages that they communicate, will not also understand or accept the heavenly realities. People have to see the presence of God and his message in earthly things.

The serpent that was lifted up in the desert by Moses is a sign for the Son of Man who also would also be lifted up. (And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live. Numbers 21:8). It was not the serpent that healed but the word of God. (serpent can be considered as an idol and God does not promote idol worship but it is only a sign for the word of God which healed) Jesus is the Word of God who redeems.

உலக நடப்புகள் அடையாளங்களே. சில வேளைகளில் அவை மறுஉலகு சார்ந்த உண்மைகளை வெளிப்படுத்துகின்றன. பாலைநிலத்தில் மோசேயிடம் பாம்பை உயர்த்த இறைவன் கட்டளை இடுகிறார் (எண் 21:8) இது சிலை வழிபாடு அல்ல (இறைவன் சிலை வழிபாடு செய்யச் சொல்லவும் அல்ல). அங்கே உயிர் கொடுத்தது இந்த அடையாளத்திற்கு பின்னணியாய் இருந்த இறைவார்த்தை. இறைவார்த்தையின் வல்லமையால் அவர்கள் உயிர்பெற்றார்கள். (பாம்பினால் அல்ல, பாம்பு ஒரு அடையாளமே). இயேசு சிலுவையில் உயர்த்தப்பட்ட இறைவார்த்தை. இறைவார்த்தையில் (இயேசுவில்) மீட்பு உண்டு.
