Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: MATTHEW 10:34-11:1

The disciples should choose Jesus before the nearest and dearest relations (Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me). It is not that they have to be neglected instead Jesus has to be the first. Before ease and safety cross should be taken (whoever does not take up his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me). Same way Jesus should be taken before life (Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it).

Jesus does not in any way speak against relations and the safety and security of life or against life itself rather he invites his disciples to primacy to Jesus before other things. It is this that will allow the disciple to receive the blessings and rewards. Rewards are only in relation to Jesus.

உறவு> உயிர்> பாதுகாப்பு போன்றவைகளுக்கு முன் இயேசு தேர்ந்துகொள்ளப்பட வேண்டும். இயேசுவோடு கொண்டுள்ள உறவு எப்படி இருக்கிறதோ அதுபோலவே பயனும் இருக்கும்.

GOSPEL READING: LUKE 10:25-37

Eternal life is not achieved through observance of some rules and regulations. Even the Law itself says that it is achieved through love. A total, unlimited, love of God is important to achieve eternal life. And this also followed by love of the neighbour as one loves oneself. There is no distinction between me and my neighbour. My neighbour and I are one.

Neighbour is the one who is in need of one’s help and assistance. Jesus gives a beautiful story in which he puts a Samaritan as a model. Jews hated Samaritans because of their mixed race. Their hatred was seen in their religion as well. They were almost like pagans to them. Jesus picks up a Samaritan as model to the Priest and Levites who were observing the legal regulations.

நிலைவாழ்வு என்பது ஒழுங்குகளிலும் சட்டங்களிலும் அல்ல. அன்புதான் நிலைவாழ்வுக்கு வழி. இறைஅன்பை வாழ்ந்து காட்டுதலை காணமுடியாது. அடுத்திருப்பவரை அன்புசெய்தல் காணக்கூடியது. அன்புக்கு எடுத்துக்காட்டு சமாரியன். ஒழுங்குகளை கடைபிடிப்பதற்கு எடுத்துக்காட்டு குருக்கள்> லேவியர்கள். அன்புதான் நிலைவாழ்வுக்கு வழி.
