Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: JOHN 20:19-23

Holy Spirit is a gift. It is not acquired through hard work or efforts. It is not like the things of the world where the harder you work the greater you gain. Gift is given freely. The one who receives it can only be grateful to God for it. The receiver of the gift should enjoy the gift by living the gift.

This gift is not given by anyone else than Jesus himself. Holy Spirit is a gift from the other world and the only person who has come down form the other world is none other than Jesus. We can ask and pray to Jesus for this gift but it is his wish to give it whomsoever he wants it to be given.

தூய ஆவி என்பது ஒரு கொடை பரிசு அல்ல. அதை பெற்றுக்கொள்ளத்தான் முடியுமே தவிர அதை உழைத்துப் பெற முடியாது. அதை கொடுக்கக் கூடியவர் இயேசு ஒருவர்தான். வேறு யாரிடமிருந்தும் பெற முடியாது.

GOSPEL READING: JOHN 15: 9-17

Sayings of Jesus in this passage are quite interesting. He says: I love you; I have told you this; I have called you friends; I chose you; I appointed you etc. All these words (verbs) speak of relationship. All what Jesus has done with and for disciples are for building up relationship with them. He was not interested in anything else than to build them as his friends and build friendship among them.

This friendship and the rest of it were to bear fruit: fruit if fidelity (It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain). The friendship that Jesus was trying to build among his friends was to remain forever. It was not for a particular period of time or duration.

நான் உங்கள்மீது அன்பு கொண்டுள்ளேன்;> உங்களை நான் நண்பர்கள் என்றேன்> நான்தான் உங்களைத் தேர்ந்து கொண்டேன்> நீங்கள் கனி தர உங்களை ஏற்படுத்தினேன் என்றெல்லாம் இயேசு சொல்லும் போது உறவை அவர் முன்வைக்கிறார். இந்த உறவில் அவர்கள் நிலைத்திருக்க வேண்டும் என்பதே அவரது விருப்பம் (நீங்கள் தரும் கனி நிலைத்திருக்கவும்).
