Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: MARK 9:30-37

The disciples were like students in a classroom. They did not understand yet they did not question to clarify or verify the saying. They were also afraid to question the master. When they themselves were questioned by the master they remained silent. The disciples were in a different world altogether. Master – student relationship was the same even in those days.

Jesus did not leave his students (disciples) ignorant rather he took special tuition for them. The lives which they were trying to live had different values. They were learning a different subject, different life-style and were having different goal in life. Worldly ideas and values would not fit into the system which Jesus was trying to communicate to them. The disciples had to understand and accept that humility and service were essentials for Jesus and his kingdom.

சீடர்கள் மாணவர்களைப்போல் இருக்கிறார்கள் (அவர்களுக்கு விளங்கவில்லை> விளக்கம் கேட்கவும் அஞ்சினார்கள்> பேசாதிருந்தார்கள்;). இயேசு சீடர்களை அறியாமையில் விட்டுவிடவில்லை> மாறாக அவர்களுக்கு விளக்கம் கொடுக்கிறார். சீடர்களுக்கு இறையாட்சி சார்ந்த கருத்துக்களை கொடுக்கிறார். தாழ்ச்சியும் பணிவாழ்வுமே அடித்தளமானது.

GOSPEL READING: LUKE 8: 4-15

Jesus came into the world to announce and proclaim the good news (it was about the kingdom of God). Later he became the good news himself. His life and mission became the good news and he spoke this to his listeners in stories and parables. He was talking to the simple people and he had to use parables (stories of normal happenings in their lives).

The word of God that he came to communicate was received differently by people. All were given the word of God; all received it. Some lost the effects of the word of God because of the workings of the evil one; others received it gladly but worldly anxieties and worries made them lose the word of God; yet others received it for a short while but lost the word in times of temptations and trials. But people who are good, generous and persevere till the end (test of time and situation) are the rich.

இயேசுவின் வாழ்வும் பணியும் இந்த உவமை வழியாக சித்தரிக்கப்படகிறது. இயேசு இறையாட்சிப் பணிக்காக இவ்வுலகிற்கு வந்தார். இறைவார்த்தையை போதிப்பதன் வழியாக அப்பணியை நிறைவு செய்கிறார். மக்கள் அதை ; பலவேறு விதமாக பெறுகிறார்கள். கால> சமூக சூழல்கள் அவர்களை பாதிக்கின்றன. கால சமூக சூழல்களை கடந்து மன உறுதியுடனும் நல்ல உள்ளத்துடனும் நிலைத்திருப்பவர் பலன் தருவர்.
