GOSPEL READING: LUKE 1:57-66,80

Birth of a child and naming of the child are always occasions to celebrate. It is not a celebration for the family alone rather it is a celebration for the relatives and the neighbourhood. It is a public celebration. Birth is celebrated to thank God for the gift of life. Life is a free gift of God and in this case it is a special gift because Elizabeth was barren.

Naming the child is to recognize the child among the family and give a mission to the child. Name always carried the character of the child for the Israelites and in some cases the name specified the role and the function of the child. Celebration ended with a question and wonder: what will this child be?!

குழந்தை பிறப்பும் பெயரிடுதலும் இஸ்ராயேல் மக்களிடையே கொண்டாடப்பட்டன. புpறப்பில் இறைவனுக்கு நன்றி செலுத்தினர். பெயரிடுதலில் அக்குழந்தைக்கான இறைதிட்டம் இறைசித்தம் வெளிப்படுத்தப்பட்டது. வழக்கத்திற்கு மாறான பெயராக இருந்ததால் உறவினர்களும் நண்பர்களும் ‘இக்குழந்தை எப்படிப்பட்டதாக இருக்குமோ?” என்று சொல்லிக் கொண்டார்கள். ஏனெனில் அக்குழந்தை ஆண்டவருடைய கைவன்மையைப் பெற்றிருந்தது.

GOSPEL READING: MATTHEW 7: 6,12-14

Collection of sayings on various themes. Holy things should not be given to dogs. Because dogs always return to its own vomit and has no idea of goodness and holiness. Similarly precious things cannot be thrown to pigs because pigs will not know the worth of things rather they are always among dirt and rotten things.

Golden rule of Jesus valid for anyone at any situation. This golden rule is the summary of the prophets and the laws. Each one should be the criteria for his own actions. If one wants to be forgiven then he should forgive first. If one does not want to be judged then he should not judge others. Similarly for everything.

இயேசுவின் பொன்மொழி அழகாக தனிமனித வாழ்க்கையை சித்தரிக்கிறது. ஒருவன் தன்னை எப்படி மதிப்பிடுகிறானோ அதேபோல் பிறரையும் மதிப்பிட வேண்டும். பிறருக்கு நாம் என்ன செய்கின்றோமோ அதுதான் நமக்கும் செய்யப்படும்.
