Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: LUKE 11:42-46

Jesus criticized the Pharisees and the scholars of the law. These two were the primary opponents of Jesus. There were also other groups like Sadducees. However these two were the prominent groups. Among the two, the Pharisees were the worst.

The Pharisees believed that their external piety would redeem them. So they multiplied the practices of piety and the like. The Scribes of the law multiplied the rules with the intention of making it practical and simpler. But they multiplied the rules to the extend people were not able to fulfill them.

பரிசேயரும் மறைநூல் அறிஞரும் இNயுசுவுக்கு எதிராக இருந்தார்கள். அவர்கள் பக்திமுயற்சிகளையும்> வெளிஅடையாளங்களையும்> விவிலிய விளக்கங்களையும் முன்வைத்தார்கள் ஆனால் கடவுளையும் மக்களையும் மறந்தார்கள்.

GOSPEL READING: LUKE 11:37-41

God is the creator of the whole universe and all within it. He has not made part of anything and the other half came out of itself or from something else. He made the outside and inside of the vessels and created the man in the same way. He did not create only the inside of him and left the outside of him to be made by someone else.

Things have to be seen in totality. Persons also should be seen in totality. If the inside of a thing is clean then so also the outside should be. The outside should reflect the cleanliness of the inside. God is the God of wholeness and totality.

கடவுள் எல்லாவற்றையும் முழுமையாகப் படைத்தார். ஒரு பகுதியை மட்டும் படைத்துவிட்டு மறுபகுதியை படைப்பதற்கு பிறரை நாடிச் செல்லவில்லை. இந்த மனநிலையோடு பிறரையும் பொருள்களையும் காணவேண்டும்.
