GOSPEL READING: LUKE 13:31-35

“Go away, leave this area because Herod wants to kill you.”

There were some moderate Pharisees. So they came up to Jesus and reported to him the intention of Herod. Was it to help him or to prevent him from continuing his work? We do not know their intention. But Jesus was sure of his moves and actions. The purpose for which Jesus came into this world was to gather the people together.

Jesus was not bothered about his death. One day he had to leave this world. Jesus came with a mission and this mission has to be completed. Once the mission is completed then his purpose for living on this earth is completed. Living and not-living are not essentials in life. Living with a mission and completing the purpose for which one came into this world are important.

‘இங்கிருந்து போய்விடும்@ ஏனெனில் ஏரோது உம்மைக் கொல்லவேண்டும் என்றிருக்கிறான்”

வாழ்வா? சாவா? இயேசுவுக்கு குறிக்கோளை நிறைவு செய்யும் வாழ்வே சிறந்தது. அவர் ஒரு பணிக்காக இவ்வுலகிற்கு வந்தார். பணியின் நிறைவுதான் வாழ்வா சாவா என்பதை நிர்ணயிக்க வேண்டும்.

GOSPEL READING: LUKE 13:22-30

“Lord, will only a few people be saved?”

Through this parable Jesus is trying to tell the listeners that salvation being with the master. Being with the master within the house is salvation. Eating and drinking and being in the company of the master and listening to him while he is out in the world are all good and to be appreciated. But they do not guarantee salvation.

Being with the master in the house and being in his presence and in his closeness is all that matters. For this in this passage the message is to enter through the narrow gate. Entering through the narrow gate implies that only the person enters. All his luggage and all the other possessions cannot be carried through. The person has to shed all the belongings. There is place only for the person in the master’s house.

‘ஆண்டவரே, மீட்புப் பெறுவோர் சிலர் மட்டும் தானா?”

இன்றைய நற்செய்தியில் மீட்பு என்பது தலைவரோடு இனைந்த வாழ்க்கை. அந்த வாழ்க்கைக்கு பொருள்கள் தேவையில்லை. நபர் மட்டும் போதும். இடுக்கமான வாயில் வழியாக நுழைய வருந்தி முயலுங்கள் என்று சொல்லுவதன் பொருள் அதுவே.
