Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: LUKE 12:49-53

Do you think that I have come to establish peace on the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division.

Was Jesus a prince of peace? No. As his message went round and as the people picked up his message to follow there came around division among people. Families were split right across. Some followed him while others were against Jesus and this was the division.

This division was foretold by Prophet Micah 7:6. (For the son dishonors his father, the daughter rises up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law, and a man’s enemies are those of his household). But the prophecy continues to say that the person would place his trust in the Lord and that was the only way out of the crisis. Division bound to come but the way out is ‘trust in the Lord’.

மண்ணுலகில் அமைதியை ஏற்படுத்த வந்தேன் என்றா நினைக்கிறீர்கள்? இல்லை,பிளவு உண்டாக்கவே வந்தேன் என உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்.

இயேசு அமைதியின் அரசர் அல்லவா? இல்லை. அவர் பிளவை உண்டாக்கவே வந்தார். இறைவாக்கினர் மீக்கா 7:6 இதை கூறுகிறார். (ஏனெனில், மகன் தன் தந்தையை அவமதிக்கின்றான்;மகள் தன் தாய்க்கு எதிராக எழும்புகின்றாள், மருமகள், தன் மாமியாரை எதிர்க்கின்றாள்; ஒருவரின் பகைவர் அவரது வீட்டில் உள்ளவரே ஆவர்). பிளவுகள் வரும் ஆனால் நம்பிக்கை கடவுளிடம் மட்டுமே (என்னை மீட்கும் என் கடவுளுக்காகக் காத்திருப்பேன்).

GOSPEL READING: MATTHEW 19:13-15

Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray.

Hands are to bless others. Hands are to welcome people and greet them and to hold them close and bless. They are not to chase others or to divide and to separate etc. Jesus communicates an excellent message through the simple action of touching the children and blessing them and praying over them.

Children are welcome to Jesus because the kingdom belongs to people who are like the little children. One of the qualities of children is that they belong to and depend on others. They are not like the grownups who feed independent and individualistic. Children are community minded and they rely on others and naturally they will depend on God and relate to him.

சிறுபிள்ளைகள்மேல் இயேசு தம் கைகளை வைத்து வேண்டுதல் செய்யுமாறு அவர்களைச் சிலர் அவரிடம் கொண்டு வந்தனர்.

கைகள் பிறரை வாழ்த்த, பிறருக்காக ஜெபிக்க, பிறரை ஆசீர்வதிக்க. சிறுபிள்ளைகள் இறையாட்சியில் இருக்கிறார்கள் ஏனெனில் அவர்கள் பிறரை சார்ந்து வாழ்கிறார்கள், இனைந்து வாழ்கிறார்கள்.
