Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: MATTHEW 7:21-29

Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.

Miracle workers and prophets are called by Jesus as evil doers. There are miracles and prophecies that do not come from God. They are in fact false prophets and magicians. They do these activities for their own sake and for their own gain. Externally they pretend to come for God. They use the name of God and in effect they are for themselves.

Jesus is the true and only son of God who was to come as redeemer. All the Old Testament books speak of his coming and the people also await his coming. Only those who listen to him and follow his directions are the true disciples. They will be firm and strong like a house built on rock; they will not be destroyed by wind and water (passing events).

ஆகவே, நான் சொல்லும் இவ்வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டு இவற்றின்படி செயல்படுகிற எவரும் பாறைமீது தம் வீட்டைக் கட்டிய அறிவாளிக்கு ஒப்பாவார்.

இயேசுவின் பெயரால் இறைவாக்கு உரைப்பவர்கள், பேய்களை ஓட்டுபவர்கள், வல்ல செயல்கள் பல செய்பவர்கள் எல்லாம் நெறிகேடாகச் செயல்படுவோர் என இயேசுவால் அழைக்கப்படுகிறார்கள். ஏனென்றால் அவர்கள் இயேசுவின் வார்த்தையை கேட்டு அதன்படி நடப்பவர்கள் அல்ல. இயேசுவின் வார்த்தைக்கு செயல்வடிவம் கொடுப்போர் உறுதியானவர்கள் அழிவைக் காணாதவர்கள்.

Beware of false prophets

Jesus calls them as prophets. Prophets are those who speak for God and reveal God to the people and they are also supposed to be forth tellers. Prophets are supposed to tell forth openly the mind of God. They would be quite demanding and challenging the listeners.

False prophets are like sheep. Sheep do not hurt anyone; they do not challenge anyone; and they do not demand anything of anyone. False prophets are like soothsayers in fact they are soothe (pacify) sayers. That is the reason that Jesus identifies them with sheep. They are of no use because they do not produce the required fruits.

போலி இறைவாக்கினரைக் குறித்து எச்சரிக்கையாய் இருங்கள்.

இறைவாக்கினர்கள்; மக்களை இறைவார்த்தையைக் கொண்டு எதிர்கொள்வார்கள். மக்களிடம் சவால்விடுவார்கள். ஆனால் போலி இறைவாக்கினர்கள் ஆட்டுக்குட்டிகள் போல இருப்பார்கள். யாருக்கும் எத்தீங்கும் செய்யமாட்டார்கள். அவர்களால் யாருக்கும் எந்த பயனும் இல்லை.
