GOSPEL READING: LUKE 2:22-40

they took him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord,

God approaches man through revelation. Man has access to God through offerings, sacrifices, prayers etc. Man’s response is through offerings. This is so in every religion, culture and society. Even an atheist, who does not believe in a professed religion, has his appeal and approach to higher beings.

Parents of Jesus fulfill the requirements of the religion of Moses. Not only they fulfill the law of their religion, but they also do it for Jesus about whom both of them received in revelation as Son of God. Even son of God is obliged to fulfill the law for the sake of the people. While he was being offered both Simeon and Anna received in revelation that he was the one to come and yet they received the offering.

குழந்தையை ஆண்டவருக்கு அர்ப்பணிக்க அவர்கள் எருசலேமுக்குக் கொண்டு சென்றார்கள்.

இயேசு இறைமகன் என்று மரியாவும் யோசேப்பும் அறிந்திருந்தார்கள். சிமியோன், அன்னா இவர்களும் இயேசுவை யார் என்று அறிந்திருந்தார்கள். இருப்பினும் அவரை கோயிலில் காணிக்கையாக ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கிறார்கள். இறைமகனாக இருந்தாலும் இவ்வுலகில் இயேசு ஒழுங்குகளுக்கு கட்டுப்பட்டவர் ஆனால் அதே ஒழுங்குகளை புதுப்பித்து புனிதப்படுத்துபவர்.

GOSPEL READING: MARK 4: 26-34

This is how it is with the kingdom of God.

One of the mysteries of nature is that when a seed is sown it springs up and grows and the man does not know how it does. God who is the author of nature knows it all. God carries on his work insensibly and without noise, but insuperably and without fail. Man is a passive (in a sense) admirer. So also the kingdom works.

The work of grace is small in its beginnings and comes to be great and considerable at last. The beginning of the kingdom is very small. But the completion of it will be great. The beginning (the seed) when compared to the growth (a big tree) is unexplainable and incomprehensible. God’s ways are so.

இறையாட்சியைப் பின்வரும் நிகழ்ச்சிக்கு ஒப்பிடலாம்.

இயற்கை நிகழ்வுகளே மனிதனின் சிந்தனைக்கும் புரிதலுக்கும் அப்பாற்பட்டது (விதை வளர்தல்). கடவுளின் செயல்கள் (மனிதன் எதுவும் செய்யாமலே நாள்கள் நகர்ந்து செல்கின்றன. அவருக்குத் தெரியாமல் விதை முளைத்து வளருகிறது. முதலில் தளிர், பின்பு கதிர், அதன் பின் கதிர் நிறைய தானியம் என்று நிலம் தானாகவே விளைச்சல் அளிக்கிறது.) மனிதனுக்கு வியப்பே. இறையாட்சியும் கடவுளின் செயல். மனிதன் அறியாமலே அது நிறைவை அடையும்.
