GOSPEL READING: MARK 9: 38-43,45,47-48

There is no one who performs a mighty deed in my name who can at the same time speak ill of me.

The attitudes of Jesus and John are quite interesting and they also opposing. Jesus’ attitude is all inclusive where as John’s attitude is very exclusive. Besides this, John considers the work of Jesus as a privilege and private. John sees Jesus as someone belonging to him and others have no right over even his name. Jesus’ attitude is that if someone is casting demons out by mentioning the name of Jesus then he is honouring the name.

Hand, feet and eyes are precious parts of one’s body. Hands refer to the activity of any person; feet refer to the way of life; eyes refer to the vision of life. If any person’s (disciple’s) activity or way of life or vision of life does not fit into that of God’s activity or way of life or vision then it is as good as being lost.

இயேசுவின் மனநிலை எல்லாரையும் உள்ளடக்கக்கூடிய மனநிலை. யோவானின் மனநிலை அதற்கு எதிர்மறையானது. இயேசுவின் பணியோ வாழ்வோ யாருக்கும் தனிப்பட்ட முறையில் வழங்கப்படவில்லை அது எல்லாருக்கும் பொதுவானது. ஒவ்வொரு மனிதனின் கை, கால், கண் போன்றவை அவனுடைய பணி வாழ்வு, அவன் நடந்து செல்லும் வாழ்வுமுறை, அவனுடைய வாழ்க்கை குறிக்கோள் போன்றவற்றை குறிக்கும். இவைகள் இறையாட்சி சார்ந்தவைகளாக இல்லை என்றால் அவைகளை இழப்பது நல்லது.

GOSPEL READING: JOHN 1:47-51

I say to you, you will see the sky opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”

Jesus knows everything. He knows things even before they happen. This was the belief of the evangelist who wrote the Gospel of John. He knows everyone who comes to him and even before their coming he knows about their whereabouts. Jesus is the son of God and as such he is all knowing.

Jesus is the centre of activities of the angels. He is the source and goal of activities of the angels. According to the belief of the people of the Old Testament the angels represented God and continued the works of God on earth. So they always originated from God and returned to God. Here Jesus says that the angels will ascend and descend from the Son of Man. Jesus is God on the earth.

‘வானம் திறந்திருப்பதையும் கடவுளின் தூதர்கள் மானிட மகன்மீது ஏறுவதையும் இறங்குவதையும் காண்பீர்கள் என மிக உறுதியாக உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்” என்று அவரிடம் கூறினார்.

இயேசு எல்லாவற்றையும் அறிந்தவராக அதுவும் முன்கூட்டியே அறிந்தவராக தன்னை வெளிப்படுத்துகிறார். பழைய ஏற்பாடு மக்களின் நம்பிக்கையின்படி இறைவனின் தூதர்களின் செயல்பாடுகள் கடவுளிடமிருந்து துவங்குகின்றன@ கடவுளை சென்றடைகின்றன. இங்கு இயேசு கடவுளின் தூதர்களின் செயல்பாடுகள் தன்னிடமிருந்து துவங்குவதாகவும் தன்னில் நிறைவுபெறுவதாகவும் கூறுகிறார். இக்கூற்றின் வழியாக தன்னை இவ்வுலகின் கடவுளாக வெளிப்படுத்துகிறார்.
