Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: MATTHEW 13: 24-30

Let them grow together until harvest; then at harvest time I will say to the harvesters, “First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles for burning; but gather the wheat into my barn.”

The seed is good because the man sowed the good seed in the field. The sower also is good. He wanted to harvest good fruits from the field. The sower sowed the see in the day time when everyone was watching. He himself was shocked and surprised at the outcome on the last day- the day of harvest.

There is an enemy who is evil; and he always does his work at night when no one watches. He does his evil work when everyone is asleep. Enemy sowed only the weed. Evil one is not identified. His presence is definite but where he comes from or when does he work are not known. His work should also not be interrupted. Evil will be uprooted only on the last day until then evil coexists with good.

அறுவடை வரை இரண்டையும் வளர விடுங்கள். அறுவடை நேரத்தில் அறுவடை செய்வோரிடம் ‘முதலில் களைகளைப் பறித்துக் கொண்டு வந்து எரிப்பதற்கெனக் கட்டுகளாகக் கட்டுங்கள். கோதுமையையோ என் களஞ்சியத்தில் சேர்த்து வையுங்கள்” என்று கூறுவேன்| என்றார்.

ஒருவர் தம் வயலில் நல்ல விதைகளை விதைத்தார். விதைப்பவர் நல்லவர். நல்ல அறுவடையை எதிர்பார்த்தார். அவருடைய பகைவன் வந்து கோதுமைகளுக்கிடையே களைகளை விதைத்துவிட்டுப் போய்விட்டான். அவன் தீயவன். விதை விதைப்பனோ களைகளை விதைப்பவனோ முன்வைக்கப்படவில்லை. இறுதிநாளில் அறுவடையே முக்கியம்.

But the seed sown on rich soil is the one who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and yields a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold.”

The word is the seed. The word is received by different people differently but the word is the same. The word does not change according to people and culture and situation. The word is unchangeable and it is productive and it is productive in so far as the reception of it.

There are those who receive the word of God but without understanding it (if there is not understanding then the word itself is lost); there are some who receive the word and probably understand but do not like to take risks for the sake of the word (tribulation and persecution); there are others who receive the word and probably understand it but they are anxious about other things and not anxious about the word (anxiety of worldly things and care for wealth); there are few who listen to the word, understand it, take risk for the sake of the word, anxious only about the word and possess only the word and they are the ones who produce much harvest.

நல்ல நிலத்தில் விதைக்கப்பட்ட விதைகளுக்கு ஒப்பானோர் இறைவார்த்தையைக் கேட்டுப் புரிந்து கொள்வார்கள். இவர்களுள் சிலர் நூறு மடங்காகவும், சிலர் அறுபது மடங்காகவும் சிலர் முப்பது மடங்காகவும் பயன் அளிப்பர்”.

விதைகள்தான் இறைவார்த்தை. இறைவார்த்தை மாறதது. இடம், காலம், ஆள், சூழலுக்கேற்ப மாறாதது. பயன் அளிப்பது வார்த்தையை ஏற்பவரை பொருத்தது. வார்த்தையை ஏற்பவர்கள் அதை புரிந்துகொள்ள வேண்டும்; வார்த்தைக்காக அபாயத்தையும் எதிர்கொள்ளவேண்டும்@ வார்த்தையில் ஆவலுள்ளவராக இருக்கவேண்டும்.
