GOSPEL READING: MATTHEW 9:32-38
At the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity for them because they were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd.

Sheep always need the presence of the shepherd. The other animals manage on their own but not the sheep. Sheep are supposed to be creatures that are drowned in a spoonful of waters. If there is no one to assist then they are lost or they are scattered around. Israelites were like the sheep for Jesus. The shepherds (leaders) were worried about themselves and not about the sheep.
Jesus was moved with pity. The crowds were troubled and abandoned. Jesus indirectly says that these troubles were not because of the people themselves but because of the leaders. The leaders have not helped the people or assisted them or like God present with them. Leaders have neglected their primary duty of being present with the people.

ஆயர் இல்லாத ஆடுகள் வழிதவறிப்போகும். ஆடுகளுக்கு ஆயனின் உடனிருப்பு அவசியம். மற்ற விலங்குகள் மனித உதவி இல்லாமல்கூட வாழ்ந்து கொள்ளும். ஆனால் ஆடுகள் அப்படி அல்ல. ஆயன் ஆடுகளோடு இரவும் பகழும் இருக்கவேண்டும். ஆயனின் தலையான பணி உடனிருப்பதே. இதுவே தலைமைத்துவ பண்பு, பணி.
