Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: JOHN 16: 23-28

Jesus came into the world to fix up the relationship between the father and the people. He was sent by the father with the same mission. For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. Eternal life is what man was seeking and is seeking and man cannot attain it by himself and so God gives to him through his son.

Now God loves the disciples because they have loved Jesus and have believed in him. So belief in Jesus and loving Jesus are the prerequisites for the right relationship between the father and the people. And this in turn brings eternal life to the people. Eternal life is given to man who seeks it provided he in his turn loves Jesus and believes in Jesus.

இயேசு இவ்வுலகிற்கு வந்தது மக்களையும் தந்தையையும் சரிஉறவில் இனைக்க. தந்தை மக்களுக்கு நிலைவாழ்வை கொடையாக கொடுக்கிறார் அதை பெறுவதற்கு அடையாளமாக இயேசுவை அன்பு செய்யவேண்டும் அவரில் நம்பிக்கை வைக்க வேண்டும். தந்தை மக்கள் சரி உறவே நிலைவாழ்வு.

GOSPEL READING: JOHN 16: 20-23

Pain, suffering, grief and mourning are part of life. The disciples will weep while the world around will rejoice and celebrate. This should not become a concern for the disciples. This suffering also will be for a short while. Suffering and pain are not only short lived but they are also of this world only. Besides suffering and pain are forerunners of the joy that is to come.

Disciples will rejoice and they will see Jesus and in this seeing they will rejoice. Presence of Jesus is rejoicing and as long as Jesus is with them there will be rejoicing. (“Can the wedding guests mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast”. ) Every disciple is like the mother who bears the suffering and forgets every bit of it at the birth of the child. Rejoicing is our goal and that is at the coming of the Lord.

அழுகை, புலம்பல், துயரம் போன்றவை சீடர்களுக்கு கண்டிப்பாக இருக்கும். ஆனால் இவைகள் மாறக்கூடியவை. அவர்கள் மகிழ்ச்சி அடைவார்கள். இயேசுவை காண்பது அவர்களுக்கு மகிழ்ச்சியை கொடுக்கும். அழுகை, புலம்பல் எல்லாம் குறைந்த காலத்தவை. எளிதில் மறக்கக்கூடியவை (பிள்ளையைப் பெற்றெடுக்கும்போது தாய் தனக்குப் பேறுகாலம் வந்துவிட்டதால் வேதனை அடைகிறார். ஆனால் பிள்ளையைப் பெற்றெடுத்தபின்பு உலகில் ஒரு மனித உயிர் தோன்றியுள்ளது என்னும் மகிழ்ச்சியால் தம் வேதனையை அவர் மறந்துவிடுகிறார்.)
