Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: JOHN 14:6-14

Philip is the one who brought Nathanael to Jesus. He is one who said to Nathanael that we have found the Messiah about whom the scriptures speak about. The very same man (Philip) is asking now to see the Father. This request of Philip is very important because through this the greatest truth is revealed by Jesus. To have seen Jesus is to have seen the Father.

Father (God) is not hidden somewhere in a far off place. God is immanent. God is present totally in Jesus. Jesus word and actions reveal God to the world. In John 15:15, Jesus says: “because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father”. God is also to be seen in his creation though not in the perfect sense as in the case of Jesus.

பிலிப்பு நத்தனியேலைப் போய்ப் பார்த்து, இறைவாக்கினர்களும் திருச்சட்ட நூலில் மோசேயும் குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளவரை நாங்கள் கண்டுகொண்டோம். நாசரேத்தைச் சேர்ந்த யோசேப்பின் மகன் இயேசுவே அவர்” என்றார். இயேசுவை மெசியாவாக ஏற்றுக்கொண்ட பிலிப்பு இங்கு தந்தையை காண ஆவல் கொள்கிறார். இயேசுவை காண்பது தந்தையை காண்பது. தந்தை படைப்பில் தன்னை வெளிப்படுத்துகிறார். இயேசுவில் இந்த வெளிப்பாடு நிறைவாக முழுமையாக இருக்கிறது.

GOSPEL READING: JOHN 12:44-50

Jesus has come into the world to save the world. Jesus is not in the world to condemn the world. He has not come to judge the world. People are judged by their own actions. They condemn themselves by rejecting him. People are their own judges. Jesus’ role in the world is positive. He is like the light that dispels darkness.

Jesus is one with the Father. Accepting Jesus would mean accepting the Father. He is so much one with the Father because seeing him would be seeing the Father, believing him would be believing the father, hearing him would be hearing the father because all what he speaks are from the father.

இயேசு இவ்வுலகிற்கு வந்தது உலகை மீட்கவே தீர்ப்பிட அன்று. அவரை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளாதவர்கள் தங்கள்மேல தாங்களே தீர்ப்பிட்டுக்கொள்கிறார்கள். இயேசு இவ்வுலகிற்கு வந்தது தந்தையினால்தான். தந்தையும் இயேசுவும் ஒன்றாய் இருக்கிறார்கள் அதனால்தான் இயேசுவை காண்பது தந்தையை காண்பதாகும். இயேசுவை நம்புவதும் தந்தையை நம்புவதாகும்.
