Breaking the Word

GOSPEL  READING:  MARK 3:31-35

The people were talking in terms of human relationship. They were seeing things in human, social, natural and family contexts. They were of this world and they could not rise above the situations. Everything was very clear and evident for them and they could see things plainly as it seems.

Jesus sees things differently. For Jesus things were of divine relationship. Even the human relationship had its divine aspect. He saw things and persons with an eye of faith. He saw persons and things as God saw it. Everything was related and centred around God.

GOSPEL  READING  MARK 3:22-30

Jesus was going about doing good. He was doing so much of good that it was noticed much and it disturbed the leaders and the settled people of the society. They begin to interpret his actions differently hoping to distract the crowd that followed him and also to move the people away from him. Because the people were flocking to him in such manner that they thought that he would take the crowd away from the traditional set up of the society.

Jesus gives counter arguments to them saying that even their own arguments were not right. Even evil will not work against evil was his argument. Evil would want to perpetuate itself and it would want to continue but the works of Jesus are against evil and to bring about good in the society. Their opinion and their arguments are wrong.
