25.05.2016 PREFERENCES

GOSPEL READING: MARK 10:32-45

Jesus had twelve disciples. All had the same mission and the same goal. But two of them had their own preferences. Humanly speaking this is natural. In fact these preferences will give greater commitment and motivation (“The cup that I drink, you will drink, and with the baptism with which I am baptized, you will be baptized”).

In spiritual realities and in heavenly mission, rewards are not hoped for. They are given. Rewards are not chosen. Even the persons who may have the credits need not be awarded with the rewards. The other disciples should in no way feel envy of those who are given the rewards or hope for it. Disciples only happiness is in being faithful to the mission given.

24.05.2016 GIVING UP THINGS

GOSPEL READING: MARK 10:28-31

Everyone feels that he has done much for God. Like Peter we feel that we have done much for God yet we are attached to our own things and attached to even giving up things for God. We credit ourselves with much.

Giving up things and persons and events are necessary for the kingdom. They are the road to kingdom. Giving up things is also necessary also for entering into eternal life. Giving up should be total and complete. Reward is in no way proportionate to giving up. Reward is far beyond comparison with respect to giving up. Giving up should be total and it should also be followed by following Jesus.
