Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: MATTHEW 4: 12-17, 23-25

Jesus began his ministry after the arrest of John the Baptist. His ministry did not coincide with that of John. His ministry was distinct from that of John. Even though they both were preaching of the kingdom yet they had their distinction. John was preaching the arrival of Jesus but Jesus was preaching the kingdom.

Jesus’ preaching was accompanied by the activities of the kingdom. The activities were healing: healing of all types for all people from all over the place. The healing ministry did not have any restriction. It was all inclusive. The news of the kingdom spread all over the places and the following also was from all over the places.

இயேசு விண்ணரசைப் பற்றி போதித்தார். விண்ணரசு பற்றிய செயல்களைச் செய்தார். விண்ணரசை மக்கள் எதிர்கொள்ளும்போது அவர்கள் முதலில் மனம்மாறவேண்டும்> இரண்டாவுது அவர்கள் பின்செல்லவேண்டும். மனம்மாறுதலும் பின்செல்லுதலும் விண்ணரசை ஏற்றுக் கொள்ளுவோரின் செயல்கள்.

GOSPEL READING: Mt 2: 1-12

Wise men come in search of the new born king. They are usually considered to be coming from the east. They were also guided by the stars. Wise men are those who study the stars and the nature and see the events of life differently from the ordinary people who just accept things as they happen. Wise people read nature and read the signs of the times and respond accordingly.

When the news of the birth of a new king reached the ears of Herod he asked the scribes and religious leaders to find out the truth about the child. The scribes and the religious leaders search the bible to find the truth. They too find the truth and inform the wise men. Wisdom searches for the truth in nature but the word of God confirms the truth. Wisdom and the word of God are needed to guide one to arrive at truth.

ஞானிகள் தாங்கள் படித்ததை முன்வைக்கிறார்கள். படிப்பினால் கிடைத்த செய்தியை நம்பி> கலாச்சாரத்திற்கு கட்டுப்பட்டவர்களாய் ய+தர்களின் அரசராகப் பிறந்திருக்கிறவரைத் தேடி அரண்மனைக்குச் செல்லுகிறார்கள். அறிவு> கலாச்சாரம் நம்மை கட்டுப்படுத்துகிறது. இறைசார்ந்த உண்மைகள் வெளிபாட்டில்தான் கிடைக்கிறது.
