GOSPEL READING: LUKE 1:26-38

Greetings bring joy, happiness and fulfillment. Greetings bring good tidings. Greetings reveal that the person is wanted. Greetings reveal that the person is respected and honoured for something. Here in this story Mary is favoured by God. It is a moment of joy. God comes down to her with favour for a favour.

Mary looks at the situation in a human and natural way. The favour that is showm to her is impossible in human terms. However Mary accepts everything in faith because she understands that nothing is impossible for God. This realization that nothing is impossible for God is the basis for her motherhood. When God approaches a person with his divine power the creature has to say yes in faith. Mary did it all in faith.

வுhழ்த்துக்கள் மகிழ்ச்சியை கொடுக்கும். நற்செய்தியை வெளிப்படுத்தும். வாழ்த்துக்கள் ஒருவருடைய தகுதியை, ஒருவருடைய நிலைமையை வெளிப்படுத்தும். இறைவாழ்த்துக்கள் இயற்கைக்கு, இயல்புக்கு அப்பார்பட்ட நற்செய்தியை, மகிழ்ச்சியை வெளிப்படுத்தும். இதற்கு இறைவனால் எல்லாம் கூடும் என்ற அடித்தள நம்பிக்கை அவசியம்.

GOSPEL READING: JOHN 20:19-31

“Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.”

After resurrection Jesus availed himself to be seen by his disciples. He made himself available whether the disciples wanted it or not. Some wanted to see him and they searched for him; others were locked up in the house for the fear of the Jews and yet Jesus appeared to them and showed himself to them.

He appeared to them to communicate himself to them (that was the peace that he was leaving with them; peace was his presence). He also commissioned them with a mission. Their mission was to communicate the peace of Christ. They were to communicate the presence of Christ in the world.

‘உங்களுக்கு அமைதி உரித்தாகுக! தந்தை என்னை அனுப்பியது போல நானும் உங்களை அனுப்புகிறேன்”.

‘உங்களுக்கு அமைதி உரித்தாகுக!’ என்று இயேசு கூறும்போது அவர் அவர்களோடு இருக்கிறார் என்றும் அவர் பிரசன்னம் அவர்களோடு இருக்கும் என்றும் ஊர்ஜிதப்படுத்துகிறார். அவர்களுக்கு இயேசு கொடுக்கும் பணியும் இந்த அமைதியை மக்களோடு பகிர்ந்து கொள்ளவே.
