GOSPEL READING: MATTHEW 10: 16-23

For it will not be you who speak but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you

Persecutions and sufferings are sure to come (sheep in the midst of wolves) in the way of the disciples. Close relatives and friends are the ones who will hand over the followers of Jesus to the officials (trusted ones betray). These missionaries will stand in front of Governors and kings alone and asked to bear witness (Isolated). In these moments of isolation, betrayal and persecutions the disciples should trust in God and stand firm in Faith (not to worry).

In the time of persecutions, betrayal and isolation God’s spirit will be present among the followers and he will speak for them (instead of them). Believers and witnesses feel the presence of God (Holy Spirit) right at the very moment when they are left alone physically, mentally, and socially. Followers are never alone.

இயேசுவின் பெயரால், இயேசுவுக்காக சாட்சிகளாக வாழும்போது சீடர்கள் துன்பங்களை சந்திப்பார்கள், காட்டிக்கொடுக்கப்படுவார்கள், தனிமைபடுத்தப்படுவார்கள். இந்த சூழ்நிலைகளில் சீடர்கள் மனம் தளராது இருக்கவேண்டும். நம்பிக்கையோடு இருக்கவேண்டும். ஏனெனில் தூய ஆவியார் அவர்களோடு, அவர்களில் இருந்து அவர்களுக்காக பேசுவார். சீடர்கள் தனிநபர்கள் அல்ல.

Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give.

Whatever we receive from God is freely given. We cannot merit anything from God. God’s gifts are free, gratuitous. God wants his creatures also to be like him. They in their turn should be giving gifts to others and these gifts should be freely given. There nothing that we can claim as our own.

This is much more true of the ministry of proclamation. The one who goes to proclaim does not rather should not go prepared for journey or stay. They are all provided (will be gifted). Also his journey to proclaim is like going to the temple. Only into the temple one does not go with sandals, walking stick, extra tunic etc. ‘Proclaiming the kingdom’ ministry is like going to temple or going for sacrifice.

கடவுளிடமிருந்து பெற்றவை அனைத்தும் கொடைகளே. கொடைகள் மீண்டும் கொடைகளாக வழங்கப்பட வேண்டும். விண்ணரசைப்பற்றி பறைசாற்றும் பணியும் கொடையே. அது ஒரு வழிபாடு போன்றது ஏனெனில் வழிபாட்டு தலத்திற்கு செல்லுதல் போன்று செல்லவேண்டும். “பொன், வெள்ளி, செப்புக் காசு எதையும் உங்கள் இடைக் கச்சைகளில் வைத்துக் கொள்ள வேண்டாம். இரண்டு அங்கிகளோ, மிதியடிகளோ, கைத்தடியோ எடுத்துக்கொண்டு போக வேண்டாம்.”
