GOSPEL READING: LUKE 17:20-25

The coming of the kingdom of God cannot be observed.

Arrival of the kingdom is not observable. It is not something that is going to be seen in time and space and in events. Kingdom is within the person(s). It is in the attitude of the people. Kingdom is a reality if I have the mentality and attitude that is similar to that of Jesus (God).

One should not be carried away by the people who propose the kingdom in places outside the person. There are people who say the kingdom is present in a particular place or person or in particular event. They will even propose the presence of the Son of Man in places and in events. Jesus tells his disciples not to go in pursuit of the Son of Man.

இறையாட்சி கண்களுக்குப் புலப்படும் முறையில் வராது.

இறையாட்சி இடங்களிலும், நபர்களிலும், நிகழ்வுகளிலும் வெளிப்படுபவை அல்ல. மனிதனுடைய மனநிலையில் அது தென்படும். இயேசுவைப்போல் மனநிலை உள்ளவர்களாய் இருப்போமானால் இன்றே இங்கே இறையாட்சியைக் காண்போம்.

GOSPEL READING: LUKE 17:11-19

“Go show yourselves to the priests.”

Ten lepers met Jesus and they begged him to heal them. Probably they had heard of his healing ministry. Jesus also had pity on them and healed them immediately. He has asked them to do what was prescribed in the law. They had to be proved clean by the priests and then they have to offer sacrifices before they return to their respective community and family.

One of them returned to Jesus. Could we say that he went to Jesus because he thought that Jesus was the priest? Could we say that he went to Jesus because he found Jesus to be the temple? Could we also say that he offered his sacrifices (thanksgiving) to Jesus? And this is precisely made him a man of faith.

‘நீங்கள் போய் உங்களைக் குருக்களிடம் காண்பியுங்கள்”

பத்து தொழுநோயாளர்களை இயேசு குணமாக்கினார். ஒழுங்குகளை கடைபிடிக்க அவர்களை குருக்களிடம் அனுப்பினார். ஒருவன் இயேசுவிடம் திரும்பி வந்தான். ஒருவேளை அவன் இயேசுவில் குருவைக் கண்டானா? அவரிடம் நன்றி(பலி) செலுத்தினான். அதுதான் அவனது விசுவாசம்.
