GOSPEL READING: MATTHEW 25:14-30

Come; share your master’s joy.

God does not want to keep things for himself. He is not possessive. He shares everything with his creatures. He has shared his goodness with them at creation. Now he shares his responsibility with them. He shares it with everyone but according to their capabilities. He expects that they return with their successes.

Men come back to give account of their efforts. Their responsibilities and their efforts are acknowledged by God. They are also rewarded for their efforts. Reward is in terms of further responsibilities. More works. But they also share the joys of the master. However master does not tolerate the lazy worker. He punishes him.

உம் தலைவனாகிய என் மகிழ்ச்சியில் நீரும் வந்து பங்குகொள்ளும்.

உலகைப் படைத்த இறைவன் படைப்போடு தன்னையே (நன்மையை) பகிர்ந்து கொள்கிறான். பொறுப்பையும் பகிர்ந்து கொள்கிறான். பொறுப்புள்ள மனிதர்கள் வெற்றியையும் அதன் பயன்களையும் கணக்குக் கொடுக்கவேண்டும். முயற்சி எடுத்து வெற்றி பெற்ற பணியாளர்கள் தலைவனுடைய மகிழ்ச்சியில் பங்கு கொள்கிறார்கள்.

For you know neither the day nor the hour.

Jesus has used so many parables to explain the kingdom. All the stories are taken from the realities of life. He talked about the seeds, harvest, plants, fish, pearls, treasure etc. He also talked about the wedding feast and the invited guests. All the stories explained the different aspects of the kingdom.

Here he speaks about the day and the hour of the arrival of the kingdom. Since he is speaking about the time and the day the other aspects (like the bride) are over looked. He wanted to speak about the time and he wanted his listeners to be ready always for the arrival. But because of the delay all fell asleep including the wise. Falling asleep is not the problem but being ready at that moment is important.

ஏனெனில் அவர் வரும் நாளோ வேளையோ உங்களுக்குத் தெரியாது.

இறையாட்சியையும் அதன் பண்புகளையும் பல உவமைகள் வழியாக இயேசு விளக்குகிறார். இன்றைய உவமையில் இறையாட்சியின் வருகையையும் அதன் காலத்தையும் நேரத்தையும் பற்றிப் பேசுகிறார். மணமகன் வரக் காலந்தாழ்த்தவே அனைவரும் தூக்க மயக்கத்தால் உறங்கிவிட்டனர். ஆயத்தமாயிருந்தவர்கள் அவரோடு திருமண மண்டபத்துக்குள் புகுந்தார்கள். ஆயத்தமாய் இருப்பதுதான் அவசியம்.
