Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: MATTHEW 13:18-23

The seed sown on rich soil is the one who hears the word and understands it

The word is the same for all. Same word is given to all. All of them hear the word as well. Only the situation changes for the listeners. The listeners are influenced by the situation. Situation should never influence the disciples of Jesus. The listeners that are the disciples should be above the situation.

Lack of understanding makes the word bear no fruit. The disciples should make every effort to understand the word (just listening to the word or reading the word will not bear fruit). Trials and tribulations will certainly come on the way. But in no way should these situations make the disciple turn away from the word. (Disciple should stick on to the word). Worldly anxieties and attractions can also make the disciple turn away from the word.

நல்ல நிலத்தில் விதைக்கப்பட்ட விதைகளுக்கு ஒப்பானோர் இறைவார்த்தையைக் கேட்டுப் புரிந்து கொள்வார்கள்.

இறைவார்த்தையை கேட்பதோடு மட்டும் இருந்துவிடக்கூடாது. அதை புரிந்து கொள்ளவேண்டும். (இறைவார்த்தையை படிக்க வேண்டும்; வாசிப்பதோடு நின்றுவிடக்கூடாது; வாசித்தைவைத்து ஜெபிக்கவும் கூடாது; படித்து புரிந்து ஜெபிக்க வேண்டும்). இறைவார்த்தையின் பொருட்டு வேதனையோ இன்னலோ உலகக் கவலையோ வந்தால் இறைவார்த்தையில் தடுமாற்றம் இருக்கக்கூடாது மாறாக இறைவார்த்தை அந்த சூழ்நிலைகளுக்கு பதிலாக (விடைகளாக; விளக்கங்களாக; பொருள்கொடுக்கக் கூடியவைகளாக) இருக்கவேண்டும்.

GOSPEL READING: MATTHEW 20:20-28

Whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave.

The kingdom which Jesus has come to establish is different from the worldly kingdom. In the worldly kingdom leaders Lord it over the others. There is exercise of the authority, abuse of power etc. But in the kingdom of Jesus there is no exercise of authority rather there is only service of one another. The disciples should not be like leaders of the worldly kingdom.

The disciples shall be like Christ himself. They should be humble and useful. The disciples must be ready to stoop to the meanest offices of love for one another. They must submit to one another (1 Pet 5:5; Eph 5:21), and edify one another (Rom 14:19), and please one another for good (Rom 15:2). In short they must be like their master in this world (Just so, the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many). The present state is a state of humiliation; the crown and glory were reserved for the future state

உங்களுள் முதன்மையானவராக இருக்க விரும்புகிறவர் உங்களுக்குப் பணியாளராக இருக்கட்டும்.

உலக அரசும் இயேசு கொண்டுவந்த இறைஅரசும் மாறுபட்டவை. இவ்வுலக அரசில் அதிகாரம், அடிமைபடுத்துதல், சக்தியை காட்டுதல் போன்றவை பயன்படுத்தப்படுகின்றன. இயேசுவின் இறையாட்சி என்பது பணிந்திருத்தல் (1 பேதுரு 5:5; எபே 5:21), பிறருக்கு வளர்ச்சி தருபவராக இருத்தல் (உரோமை 14:19), பிறருக்கு நன்மை செய்பவராக இருத்தல் (உரோமை 15:2) ஆகும். அதாவது தலைவர் இயேசுவைப்போல் இருக்கவேண்டும்.
