GOSPEL READING: MATTHEW 6: 1-6, 16-18

And your Father who sees what is hidden will repay you.

Religious piety is not for a show. Pious practices will be seen by others (alms giving be seen by the receiver at least; prayers will be heard etc) But the intention of the one who is doing the pious activities should not be for others to see rather they should be done to please God and God only.

The three major pious practices are alms giving, prayer, and fasting. Pious practices are not for self revelation and self presentation. They are purely other oriented. They should be done in secret (it is secret even to oneself –right hand should not know what the left hand is doing). Religious practices are to be seen by God only. Only then the reward is given by God.

மறைவாய் உள்ளதைக் காணும் உங்கள் தந்தையும் உங்களுக்கு ஏற்ற கைம்மாறு அளிப்பார்.

அறச் செயல்கள் மக்கள் பார்வைக்காக அன்று. அறச் செயல்கள் வழியாக பிறர் பயன் அடையலாம். மக்களுக்கும் பயனள்ளதாக இருக்கலாம். ஆனால் மக்கள் பார்வைக்காக அறச் செயல்கள் இருக்கக் கூடாது. அவை கடவுள் பார்வைக்காக மட்டுமே. (மறைவாய் உள்ளதைக் காணும் உங்கள் தந்தையும் உங்களுக்குக் கைம்மாறு அளிப்பார்.) இறைவன் வெளி வேடத்தை நம்புபவர் அல்ல.

GOSPEL READING: MATTHEW 5: 43-48

But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you

God loves the enemies. ( I will not give vent to my blazing anger, I will not destroy Ephraim again; For I am God and not man, the Holy One present among you; I will not let the flames consume you. Hos 11:9). Men hate enemies and destroy enemies and do evil things to enemies. If we are children of the Father (God) then we should also be like him.

Those who do not love everyone are like tax collectors and pagans. Tax collectors are those who serve the Roman authority and hence indirectly accept Roman supremacy and also the Roman Gods. Pagans are those who do not believe in Yahweh. Israel who believes in one true God and who have only one faith (One God; one people) should love all.

கடவுள் பகைவர்களை அன்பு செய்கிறார். (என் சீற்றத்தின் கனலைக் கொட்டமாட்டேன்@ எப்ராயிமை அழிக்கத் திரும்பிவரமாட்டேன். நான் இறைவன், வெறும் மனிதனல்ல. நானே உங்கள் நடுவிலிருக்கும் தூயவர், ஆதலால், நான் நகர்க்கு எதிராக வரமாட்டேன். ஒசேயா 9:11). மனிதன் மனிதனை வெறுக்கிறான். மனிதனை வெறுப்பவன் கடவுளை நம்பாதவன் (வரி தண்டுவோர்;, பிற இனத்தவர்). கடவுள் நம்பிக்கை உள்ளவன் கடவுளைப்போல் பகைவரையும் அன்பு செய்வான்.
