30.05.2012 DISCILESHIP

GOSPEL READING: MARK 10:32-45

Jesus was walking ahead of them as they were journeying toward Jerusalem. Jesus was sure of his destination. And he walked into it. He was leading his disciples to Jerusalem. In effect he was telling his disciples that they also need go to their Jerusalem. He was preparing the disciple to go into Jerusalem. And this journey to Jerusalem demands certain way of life and one of such guiding principle is what he suggests.

The disciples in the persons of James and John wanted to walk into his glory. Because they were disciples (they lived with him and they went to wherever he sent) they should be awarded with straight walk into glory. Jesus tells them that each one has to go through the same journey that Jesus is making. Even if they drink the cup that Jesus is about to drink and yet the awarding of the places is not the necessary consequences. They should continue to do service.
