GOSPEL READING: LUKE 10:1-9
“The harvest is abundant but the labourers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out labourers for his harvest.

Appointment of the disciples and sending them out to do the kingdom ministry is because the ministry is vast. Jesus is able to envisage the extend of the ministry. This is the reason he would tell his disciples to go into the whole world to proclaim the kingdom. The whole world awaits his mission. The disciples are a handful. The mission needs a proportionate number of disciples.
The place of ministry is not a welcoming one either. It is compared to wolves. The disciples are compared to lambs. The listeners would immediately picture the scene of lambs in the midst of wolves and the outcome of it. The shepherd does not go with the lambs this time but he awaits their return.

அறுவடை உலகை குறிக்கிறது என்று சொல்லலாம். (உலகெங்கும் சென்று நற்செய்தியை அறிவியுங்கள்). சீடர்கள் மட்டும் வேலையாட்கள் என்பதால் மிக குறைவுதான். பணி செய்யும் இடம் எதிர்ப்புகளை தன்னில் கொண்டது.
