GOSPEL READING: LUKE 19:11-28
Well done, good servant! You have been faithful in this very small matter

This parable is taken by many readers as the last judgement scene. That is to say that Jesus is returning at the end of the world to judge everyone and he will reward the faithful followers and punish the disloyal. This story can be read as we have said above but at the same time the story is telling something that was happening at the time of Jesus for listeners of his time.
This parable has its historical background to it. However Jesus’ journey to Jerusalem and his entry into Jerusalem also has a message from this parable. The expectation of the people that the kingdom of God was coming soon was going to be realized in Journey to Jerusalem. The arrival of Jesus is also the indication of the judgement that is awaiting. The entry of Jesus into Jerusalem is also the return of God to his people.

இந்த உவமை ஒரு வரலாற்று நிகழ்வை பின்னணியாகக் கொண்டிருக்கலாம். இந்த உவமை வழியாக இயேசுவின் எருசலேம் வருகை கூட சில பாடங்களை நமக்கு கொடுக்கலாம். மக்கள் இறையாட்சியை எதிர்பார்க்கிறார்கள் அது இயேசுவின் வருகையில் நிறைவு பெறுகிறது. இயேசுவின் வருகை எதிர்நோக்கியிருக்கும் தீர்ப்பை நினைவுகூறுகிறது. இறைவன் தம் மக்களை சந்திக்க எருசலேமுக்கு வருவார் என்பது இயேசுவின் வருகையில் நிறைவுபெறுகிறது.
