GOSPEL READING: LUKE 11:1-13
Teach us to pray
God communicates with men through revelation. Man communicates with God through sacrifices and prayer. Jesus as a man was in constant communication with God. The disciples see Jesus praying and that is why they ask Jesus to teach them to pray. Most of the teachers of religion taught their disciples to pray. They taught them to communicate with God.
Jesus taught them the prayer ‘Our Father’. The prayer should be one of praise and petitions. These praise and petitions should also be made visible in their lives. Besides teaching them the prayer he also taught them the attitude that is essential in prayer. The disciple or a believer should keep on praying until he gets it. He should ask for good things only (fish, egg, loaves etc) and God will certainly give what his disciples ask of him.

ஆண்டவரே, யோவான் தம் சீடருக்கு இறைவனிடம் வேண்டக் கற்றுக் கொடுத்ததுபோல் எங்களுக்கும் கற்றுக்கொடும்.
இறைவேண்டல் என்பது இறைவனோடு கொண்டுள்ள உறவை, தொடர்பபை வெளிப்படத்துகிறது. இறைவேண்டலில் போற்றுதலும் இருக்கவேண்டும் மன்றாட்டுக்களும் இருக்கவேண்டும். மன்றாட்டுக்கள் வாழ்ந்துகாட்டப்படவேண்டும். மன்றாடுபவர்களின் மனநிலை தொடர்ந்து ஜெபிப்பவராய் இருக்கவேண்டம் (அவர் விடாப்பிடியாய்க் கதவைத் தட்டிக் கொண்டேயிருந்தால்). வுhழ்வுக்குத்தேவையான நல்லதைக் கேட்க்க வேண்டும்.
