28.05.11 JESUS AND THE WORLD

"If the world hates you, realize that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, the world would love its own; but because you do not belong to the world, and I have chosen you out of the world, the world hates you. Remember the word I spoke to you, 'No slave is greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. And they will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they do not know the one who sent me. (Jn 15:18-21)

Love and hate are seen in where you belong to. If you belong to the world then the world will love you. Jesus does not say that it is wrong but he says that the world will hate Jesus. He is definite about that. And all those who love Jesus and belong to Jesus will be hated by the world. By this we come to know that Jesus does not belong to this world.

The followers of Jesus will also receive the same treatment. They will be hated by the world because the disciples belong to Jesus and love Jesus and follow Jesus. The disciples will be persecuted by the world. Whatever treatment they receive is according to or on account of the name of Jesus.

The two opposite poles are the world and Jesus. Jesus is from the father; he is from above and he belongs to the father and he loves the father and in return he is loved by the father. The disciples of Jesus should also belong to Jesus and they are loved by Jesus and they in turn will love Jesus. There is no compromise between Jesus and the world.
