25th Week in Ord. Time, Tuesday – 24th September 2019 — Gospel: Lk 8,19-21
Following His leadership
The family of Jesus comes to see Him in his ministry place and the reason could be to find out how He is fairing at this moment. For at the beginning of his ministry when he visited their hometown, Nazareth, the family witnessed rejection from the neighbours and townsfolk (Lk 4,16-31). In the first place, the family members were surprised to hear, when Jesus claimed himself to be the Messiah, the one who was the fulfillment of the Holy Scripture. Secondly, the family was shocked to see their closest neighbours and dearest friends turning violent against him and attempt to kill Jesus. Most obviously one can think that members of Jesus’ family sought to be with Him and protect Him from unexpected eventualities. But on hearing His response, it could be said that some of the family members were supporting Jesus and following His leadership. At this juncture, they were interested in helping Him in his practical and ministerial duties as they did in His first evangelistic tours to Capernaum (John 2,12).
இயேசுவின் குடும்பத்தினர் அவர் பணி செய்யும் இடத்திற்கு அவரைப் பார்க்க வருகின்றார்கள். காரணம், இந்த இடத்தில் அவர் எப்படி பணி செய்கிறார் என்பதை அறிந்து கொள்வதற்காக. அவருடைய பணியின் தொடக்கத்தில் சொந்த ஊரான நாசரேத்திற்குச் சென்ற போது அவருடைய அண்டை வீட்டாரும் நகரத்தாரும் நிராகரித்ததை அவருடைய குடும்பம் நேரடியாக கண்டது (லூக் 4,16-31). முதலில், இயேசு தம்மையே மெசியா என்றும், மறைநூலை நிறைவேற்றுபவர் என்றும் கூறியதைக் கேட்ட குடும்ப உறுப்பினர்கள் ஆச்சரியப்பட்டார்கள். இரண்டாவதாக, அவருடைய நண்பர்களும் உடனிருப்பவர்களும் இயேசுவுக்கு எதிராக வன்முறையைத் தூண்டி, அவரைக் கொல்ல முயற்சிப்பதைக் கண்ட குடும்ப உறுப்பினர்கள் அதிர்ச்சியடைந்தனர். இச்சூழலில், இயேசுவின் குடும்ப உறுப்பினர்கள் அவருடன் இருக்கவும், எதிர்பாராத நிகழ்வுகளிலிருந்து அவரைப் பாதுகாக்கவும் அவரைப் பின்தொடர்ந்தார்கள் என வெளிப்படையாக நினைக்கலாம். ஆனால் அவருடைய பதிலைக் கேட்கும்போது, குடும்ப உறுப்பினர்கள் சிலர் இயேசுவை ஆதரிக்கின்றார்கள் மற்றும் அவருடைய தலைமைத்துவத்தைப் பின்பற்றுகிறார்கள் என்றே கூறலாம். மேலும், கப்பர்நகூமில் இயேசுவினுடைய முதல் நற்செய்தி பயணத்தில் உடனிருந்தது போல (யோவா 2,12), இங்கும் நற்செய்தி பணிகளில் நடைமுறை காரியங்களில் அவருக்கு உதவுவதில் அவர்கள் ஆர்வம் காட்டுகின்றனர்.
