Fox versus Hen
Jesus is telling boldly the Pharisees and the crowd around him that Herod is a Fox. And He is a hen/bird that gathers chicks. Within these images two contrasting characters are beautifully portrayed. It takes tremendous courage for the fragile hen to stand against the cunning fox. It is his prophetic courage that makes Him stand against the current. It’s not His fame but God’s glory that that serves as His impetus.
