Christmas Weekday, Wednesday – 06th January 2021 — Gospel: Mk 6,45-52
Jesus Accompanies and Unloads
Following the multiplication of bread and fish and before walking on the waters, Jesus went up to the mountain to pray. His communion with God reveals that God is the source of all his doings that includes past, present and future. After his vigil experience and just before dawn, at the fourth watch of the night, Jesus walked on the lake and came towards his disciples. Whether Jesus saw his struggling disciples rowing in the boat with the light of the moon or with his divine understanding, we do not know. He came to their aid when they needed him most, when they were struggling in the sea against a strong and treacherous wind. Once again prayer did not close him from human need. It opened him to human thirsts and hungers. Jesus walked through the storm and across the waters to save those in need. He removed their fear and astonished them once more by subduing the winds. He did not tell them who he was. He showed them in action. He provided them with awesome experiences of his love and inner nature. Jesus proved to them once again that he accompanies them in their struggles and unloads their troubles.
