27.01.10 SEED AND THE HARVEST

A sower went out to sow. some seed fell on the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Other seed fell on rocky ground where it had little soil… Some seed fell among thorns,…

And some seed fell on rich soil and produced fruit.  It came up and grew and yielded thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold.”
Seeds are for sowing to produce harvest.
They are not for:
  • the birds to eat
  • to be chocked by thorns
  • to be withered.
A farmer works hard that the seeds are cared for (protected). His sole aim is that they produce good harvest.
Through this parable Jesus says that even a farmer who is so concerned about the seed and the harvest does not mind the wastage due to natural happenings.
His concern is the harvest of thirty folds, sixty folds and  hundredfolds.  He overlooks the wastage because his concern is the  final harvest.
So also, the missionary should not be bothered about  little wastage in the mission fields. There will be people neglecting, opposing or even destroying the work.
The missionary should be optimistic to believe that  his work will produce the harvest that will be seen on the last day (harvest day) which will be thirty folds, sixty folds, hundredfolds.
Like the sower, the missionary should be positive to believe and work towards the harvest and not to be worried about the initial difficulties, and failures.
