6th week in Easter Time, Tuesday – 24th May 2022 — Gospel: Jn 16,5-11
Dispensed to enlighten forever
The world enjoyed many benefits of Jesus’ presence: healed the sick, raised life, delivered demons, fed the multitudes, taught authoritatively, and loved unconditionally. Now the Ascension of Christ was the occasion of the descent of the comforter. It was necessary that the Son of God and Saviour should dwell upon earth to reveal God to his children and establish a spiritual life of humanity. But when the manifestation was complete, he was withdrawn. Thus the life of sight was replaced by the higher life of Faith. The dispensation of personal presence was replaced by the dispensation of spiritual power. This was actualized through the events of Ascension and Pentecost. The records of this dispensation reform us on how the Spirit has convinced the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. The advantage is that ever since the Lord’s ascension, a Church was established. This new Church never ceased to enjoy the enlightening, quickening, and sanctifying influences of its Comforter.
