11th Week in Ord. Time, Saturday – 18th June 2022 — Gospel: Mt 6,24-34
Love God Radically
In this section, Jesus points out two obstacles of trusting God: first is wealth and the next is worry. Both the obstacles can be overcome by putting first things first, putting God in our priorities. When we focus our priorities on God, our lives are ruled by his goodness and love. When we give our undivided attention to earthly wealth, it becomes our master and we become its slaves. When we have undue anxiety about life’s necessities, then we lack trust in the Father’s loving care. Through these examples, Jesus teaches trust in God and in deepening one’s faith in God you will be provided with a fuller life. Instead excessive concern about wealth and worry only marginalizes God and the priorities of his Kingdom. As followers of Christ, we cannot serve God with a divided heart. We need to make a radical decision to love God above all things and use all other things only insofar as they fit into that radical love.
