Beyond Judgments

2nd Week of Advent, Friday – 09th December 2022 — Gospel:  Mt 11,16-19

Beyond Judgments

Jesus complains when the crowds use worldly standard to criticize him. They are caught up in their opinions and all too easily pass judgment on him. They accuse Jesus of being possessed by a demon, a drunkard, and so on. Despite the rejection and harsh judgments of many, Jesus went about doing good. This is what he meant by saying that “wisdom is vindicated by her works.” The power Jesus possessed in him was that he could go beyond criticism. He also taught that one can recognize a tree by its fruits. Good actions speak for themselves, even if it may take a while for others to perceive or appreciate them.
