20.03.2012 JESUS SAW HIM

GOSPEL READING: JOHN 5:1-16

Jesus saw him. Jesus was in a crowded place. He was there on a feast day. There was added crowd in Jerusalem. People were all around. But Jesus saw him. He did not see all the others who were crowding around. There was also a crowd of sick people at the Sheep Gate. “In these lay a large number of ill, blind, lame, and crippled”. In this crowd of sick he saw ‘this man’ who was ill for thirty-eight years.

Jesus spoke only to this man and he healed only this man. It looks as if only this man existed for Jesus. All the others were at the background or they were not visible for Jesus or they were not his concern. The suffering or the needy were the concern for Jesus. He opts for the really needy.
