GOSPEL READING: MARK 12:28-34
Jesus allowed himself to be questioned by the opponents. They come one after another and questioned him on the basics of the religion they were living. The answers which Jesus gave were very basic and correct instead they were caught with traditions and interpretations. They gave so much of importance to traditions and interpretations that they forgot the essentials.
Here Jesus gave the first and the foremost of all the rules and regulations. ‘God is one’ was the commandment which the Israelites believed and experienced in Egypt and in the wilderness. This God commanded them to be a community of one. In fact when they left Egypt they came out with only two pillars of rules: One God; one people. People’s responses to these two were only loving them.
இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களின் மதத்தின் அடிப்படை கொள்கைகளின் கூறுகள்: ‘ஒரே கடவுள்@ ஒரே மக்கள்’. இவ்விருவரையும் அன்பு செய்வதே மக்களின் கடமை. மற்றவைகள் எல்லாம் மரபுகளும் வழிமுறைகளுமே. இயேசு இவைகளையும் வித்தியாசங்களையும் நன்கு அறிந்திருந்தார்.
