29.03.2017 JESUS REVEALS

Posted under Reflections on March 27th, 2017 by

GOSPEL READING: JOHN 5:17-30

Jesus revealed himself to be the Son of the Father. This revelation was not just that he was the Son. It was more than that. He said that he was identical with the Father. He was doing things exactly as his Father was doing (a son cannot do anything on his own, but only what he sees his father doing; for what he does, his son will do also).

Father is at work always and at all times. So does the Son. There is no break for the Son (Sabbath) from work. Father – Son relationship is based on love. Like the Father, the Son also has authority over life (the Son give life to whomever he wishes). Son has also the power and authority to judge people. Hence the Son also should be honoured like the Father.

GOSPEL READING: JOHN 5:1-16

It was the festival time. There were crowds of people around. Jesus eyes went straight to the person who was in need. He picked up a conversation with him. Jesus went to him with a mission. He went to help him and not just for a conversation. Jesus chose the needy person.

That individual was in dire need for sure. He had been there for thirty eight years. He might have been sick more than these number of years (probably from birth). No one was there around to help him. Not a single relative of his was around and he had no friend even to stand by him. He was all alone all these years. Jesus went to help him.
