Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: MATTHEW 12:38-42

Jesus takes this chance to present the sad character and condition of the generation among whom he was living. He speaks of a generation that refused to be reformed. It was a generation that was ruined. This generation is talked about in connection to the judgment. Now they look different (they could change themselves now) but on the judgment day and that too on the last judgment day there will not be any chance for changing.

People of Nineveh repented when they heard the word of God through Prophet Jonah. Similarly the queen of the south will also condemn these people because these people did not recognize the wisdom of God present among them. On the last judgment day there will not be possibility for repentance and hence these people who did not repent now and did not recognize the presence of God in Jesus will stand condemned.

இந்த தலைமுறையினர் தீயவர்கள் ஏனெனில் இவர்கள் மனம் திரும்ப மறுக்கின்றனர். இறைவார்த்தையை ஏற்க மறுக்கின்றனர். இது விபவாரத் தலைமுறையினர் ஏனெனில் இவர்கள் உண்மை கடவுளை மறந்து பிற தெய்வங்களை வணங்குகிறார்கள். தீர்ப்பு நாளில் (இறுதி நாளில்) மனம் திரும்ப காலம் இருக்காது. நினிவே மக்கள் இவர்களைக் கண்டனம் செய்வார்கள்;@ தென்னாட்டு அரசி இவர்களைக் கண்டனம் செய்வார். கண்டனம் உறுதி.

GOSPEL READING: LUKE 10:38-42

Mary sat at the feet of Jesus which denotes a close attention. Her mind was composed and she resolved to catch every word that Jesus delivered. (Like Paul was brought up at the feet of Gamaliel). Martha was not sitting at the feet and hence she was not composed or resolved to listen because she was distracted. Sitting and running around is equal to being attentive and distracted.

The disproportionate attention to worldly cares and pursuits is often the occasion of disturbance in families and of strife and contention among relations. Worldly business is a snare to us when it hinders us from serving God and getting good to our souls. Inordinate care or trouble about many things in this world is a common fault among Christ’s disciples; it is very displeasing to Christ, and that for which they often come under the rebukes of God.

இயேசுவின் காலடியில் அமர்ந்திருப்பது அவரோடு கொண்டுள்ள நெருக்கத்தையும்> ஆர்வத்தையும்> ஈடுபாட்டையும் காட்டுகிறது. பணிகள் புரிவதில் பரபரப்பாய் இருப்பது கவலைப்படுவதை குறிக்கிறது. உலகு சார்ந்த கவலைகள் இறைவனிடமிருந்து நம்மை பிரிக்கிறது அதேபோல் உறவுகளிமிருந்தும் பிரிக்கிறது (சகோதரிமேல் கோபம்> வெறுப்பு).
