Breaking the Word

GOSPEL READING: JOHN 16: 29-33

The disciples have understood Jesus: they know where Jesus is coming from and they also know that Jesus speaks everything plainly. It took such a long time for Jesus to convince his disciples regarding him. The important things about an individual are that who he is and where he is from and what he is about to. Towards the end of his mission Jesus has cleared the mind of the disciples regarding the above.

Jesus gives shocking news about the disciples: they will be scattered. This is another important event in the life of the disciples. The disciples will run away and Jesus will be left alone. Jesus prefers this to be left alone by the father. Jesus is aware that he is from the father and he is going back to the father and all what he does if from the father. This is more important fro him than being left alone by the disciples.

இயேசுவின் பணிவாழ்வில் சீடர்கள் அவரோடு இருப்பாரகள்; என்பதைவிட தந்தை அவரோடு இருக்கிறார்> அவரில் இருக்கிறார்> அவரில் பணியாற்றுகிறார் என்பதே மிக முக்கியமானது. இயேசுவோடு தந்தை இருக்கிறார் இயேசுவில் தந்தை இருக்கிறார் இயேசுவில் தந்தை பணியாற்றுகிறார் என்று சீடர்கள் புரிந்து கொள்கிறார்கள் என்பதே இயேசு சீடர்களுக்கு கற்றுக்கொடுக்க வந்த தலை சிறந்த பாடம்.

GOSPEL READING: MARK 16:15-20

Jesus commanded the disciples to go into the whole world to proclaim the gospel. This is the final command of Jesus to his disciples. All the other commandments were given and they were mostly to strengthen them in their faith and in their following of the Gospel. Here it is given to proclaim the Gospel. Disciples had the experience of the risen Lord and once they were strengthened then they were commanded to proclaim.

When they disciples execute this command they would be facing difficulties and the negatives of the nature, demons etc. Evil will not overcome them in their mission. But evil will be there very close to them, in fact they will be part of their mission in the sense they would be fighting against evil. The disciples should not stop only with fighting against evil rather they should continue to proclaim and bear witness to the gospel in spite of the presence of evil in them, near them and around them.

நற்செய்தியை அறிவிப்பதே இயேசு சீடர்களுக்கு கொடுக்கிற இறுதி கட்டளை. அவருடைய போதனைகளாலும் கட்டளைகளாலும் வாழ்ந்த சீடர்கள் இறுதியாக பெறுகிற கட்டளை நற்செய்தியை அறிவிப்பதே. இந்த கட்டளையை நிறைவேற்றுவதில் தீமையை எதிர்கொள்ள வேண்டியிருக்கும். தீமை அவர்களோடு இருக்கும் அவர்களை சுற்றியிருக்கும். சீடர்கள் தீமையை எதிர்த்து போராடுவதோடு நின்றுவிடக்கூடாது. நற்செய்தியை அறிவிப்பதே அவர்களுக்கு கொடுக்கப்பட்ட கட்டளை.
